This kit has six simple steps that will provide those with little to no experience with the tools to carve a 3D masterpiece. This kit includes a natural soapstone block, steel rasp carving tool and four grit sanding papers: 100, 360, 600, and 2000. Natural hand carved Brazilian Soapstone blocks range in hardness and colour from light green to blue to brown. Soapstone is a form of talc called steatite that has been used for thousands of years by many. The beauty of the stone and its unique natural properties made it very attractive to Native Americans from the east and west coast, who travelled great lengths in canoes from the mainland to obtain this stone. The name it's derived from its soapy feel and softness. Utilized and applied to daily lives as early as the Late Archaic Period (3,000 to 5,000 years ago) for cooking slabs, smoking pipes and ornaments.Made in Brazil
